General Tour Information
All of our tours begin at the stables. We can be found here (click link for google maps) Ride The Rainforest Costa Rica.
WHAT TO WEAR/BRING: We want you to be comfortable so wear whatever clothing you like. If you are wanting to go for a short trot/gallop we really recommend long pants like leggings and the sand will kick up and chafe your inner thigh if you only have on shorts. Shoes would be proper horsemanship but we love to feel the spray from the ocean so going barefoot is an option and is loved by all. Typically children are more comfortable with close-toed shoes. Its best not to bring a backpack as it will most likely get in the way, but we do have small saddle pockets where we can carry some of your belongings. Large cameras prove uncomfortable to ride with but smaller ones, or a smart phone is encouraged for photos. You guide is happy to take photos for you.
The beginning of the tour is about 400m through the jungle to the beach where we then follow an old coconut-hauling path as it weaves in an out of the jungle and the beach. Soon we come to some open stretches of beach where we can offer some running at the waters edge. Unlike strict nose to tail riding tours which only allow walking, we offer the chance to step out of your comfort zone and go for a little run. If you have never ridden before a little trot or 10 seconds of a canter / gallop will change your life. If you are an experienced rider there are long stretches of beaches where we can go for longer gallops. Our horses use rope bridals so most of your control will come from your legs. You may be a little sore in the days to follow but it will feel amazing!
WHAT TO DO IF ITS RAINING: Please reach out to us around 2 hours before your tour is scheduled to start if the weather looks bad. We can still ride if rain is light, but if rain is heavy its not safe for horse or rider.
